Bio:
Michelle Teear is an Australian artist who seeks a visual dialogue with place as a process of familiarisation of the landscape. Her practice is researched based, regularly travelling, and living outdoors as an immersive experience in the landscape from which she conducts studies.
Made.In.Newcastle Project:
Michelle conducted a basket-weaving workshop at Blackstone Gallery, weaving with weeds and other plants, recycled materials such as fabric scraps, ethernet cables, wire, shoelaces, anything you can imagine! Participants got creative and unveiled the beauty of this ancient craft, learning the random weave basket technique to transform unwanted materials into a piece of functional art for their home.
