Bio:
Kirsten Wolf (Ifritah) works as both a performer and an artist, creating ephemeral kinetic experiences for their audiences. Combining circus skills, dance, art & a dash of Mardi Gra to produce magnificent monsters & fierce nature spirits whose messages are conveyed through dance movement and audience interaction.
Ifritah is interested in steAm (putting the arts back into stem) to encourage women to code and use computers/technology in creative ways. She codes and builds her own wearable art costumes creating fantastic monsters invoked through performance.
Made.In.Newcastle Project:
Kirsten Wolf appeared as a roving performer at Top Shelf Excellent Mid-City Launch Party. Her costume “#Bug” was a tribute to Grace Hopper (an early computer scientist). It was also in part a tribute to the Scott sisters, a pair of female illustrators from the Newcastle area who helped document our local moth and butterfly collection. #Bug is a giant moth like creature that both terrifies and enthrals in day-glow & rainbow splendour.
Kirsten also participated in Made.In.Newcastle By the People in which she conducted a poi workshop for adults and children.
